The Food Technology Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), invites academics, industry practitioners, MSME representatives, alumni, and students to participate in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Design on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The activity serves as a strategic step toward developing an innovative and relevant curriculum aligned with workforce needs to produce excellent graduates with global competitiveness.

To improve the quality of higher education and produce competent graduates who meet the needs of the workforce, the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), will hold a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Curriculum Design.

The activity is part of an effort to develop an innovative and adaptive curriculum that aligns with developments in science and technology, industry needs, and national higher education standards.

The FGD will be opened by Dr. Ridwansyah, S.TP., M.Si., Head of the Food Technology Study Program at FP USU, and Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain insights and input from two experienced speakers in curriculum development and food technology:

Prof. Dr. Ir. Tyas Utami, M.Sc.
Head of the Department of Food and Agricultural Product Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Eko Hari Purnomo, S.T.P., M.Sc.
IPB University.

Through this discussion, the organizers hope to obtain strategic input for refining the OBE curriculum so that it can produce globally competitive graduates who are adaptive to changing times and responsive to the needs of industry, academia, and society.
