The “Safe Laboratory Healthy Researcher” Webinar discusses the importance of implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in laboratories to support the creation of a safe, healthy, and productive research environment.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), will hold a webinar entitled “Safe Laboratory Healthy Researcher: Building an OHS Culture in the Laboratory” on Saturday, September 5, 2026. The event serves as an educational platform to improve understanding of the importance of implementing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in laboratory activities to create a safe, healthy, and productive research environment.

The webinar will feature Muhammad Abror, S.P., Agronomy Department Head of Hasnur Group Indonesia, and Riri Rizki Chairiyah, S.P., M.Si., Head of the Service and Conformity Assessment Team of BRMP Sistem, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, as speakers. The event will be moderated by Dr. Siti Fatimah Batubara, M.Si., Lecturer of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, FP USU.

The event will begin with remarks from the Dean of FP USU, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., and the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, FP USU, Prof. Dr. Diana Sofia Hanafiah, S.P., M.P.

Through this webinar, participants will gain insights into implementing an OHS culture, identifying potential risks, and efforts to build a laboratory environment that supports the safety and health of researchers. The event also reflects FP USU’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being through strengthening safety and health aspects in the research environment, as well as SDG 4: Quality Education through enhancing the knowledge and competencies of the academic community.
