Universitas Sumatera Utara is opening registration for a Chant Competition to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and as part of the USU Dies Natalis celebrations. Carrying the theme “The Spirit of Independence, Togetherness, and Dedication to USU,” the competition is open to the university community, with registration closing on August 10, 2026.

To commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and as part of the series of events celebrating the Dies Natalis of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), all members of the university community are invited to participate in the Chant Competition, which carries the theme:

“The Spirit of Independence, Togetherness, and Dedication to USU.”

This competition serves as an opportunity to foster a spirit of togetherness, creativity, and pride in Universitas Sumatera Utara through innovative and inspiring chant performances.

Registration Deadline: August 10, 2026

Students interested in participating in the competition may coordinate with the administrative staff of their respective faculties.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Each team must consist of 10–20 participants.
  2. Team members may include lecturers, education personnel, permanent employees, non-permanent employees, students, or other individuals officially assigned to the respective work unit.
  3. Each participant may only be a member of one team.
  4. The chant must be in accordance with the designated theme.
  5. The performance duration must be 3–5 minutes.
  6. The chant must be an original creation.
  7. Performances may incorporate singing, choreography, music, formations, and props.
  8. Costumes and attributes must be appropriate, safe, and reflective of the team's identity.
  9. Re-registration must be completed 30 minutes before the competition begins.

Participant Obligations

  1. Arrive on time and complete the re-registration process.
  2. Uphold sportsmanship and team solidarity.
  3. Present a creative chant that is in accordance with the designated theme.
  4. Ensure that music and props are ready before the performance.
  5. Maintain cleanliness of the venue after the performance.
  6. Follow all instructions from the organizing committee throughout the competition.

Prohibitions

  1. Presenting content containing elements of ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup discrimination (SARA), hate speech, pornography, or practical political campaigning.
  2. Insulting or making disparaging remarks about other participants or work units.
  3. Using participants who are not registered.
  4. Bringing props that may pose a danger or potentially damage facilities.
  5. Engaging in any form of cheating.
