Launching of the Marine Conservation Corner Enlivened by Four Creative Competitions

The North Sumatra Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office (DISKP Provsu) will officially launch the Marine Conservation Corner on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, at the DISKP Provsu Office, as part of an effort to enhance public awareness and participation—particularly among young people—in marine ecosystem conservation through a series of creative competitions themed around conservation.

In order to introduce the Marine Conservation Corner, the North Sumatra Provincial Marine and Fisheries Office (DISKP Provsu) is organizing a launching event accompanied by a series of creative competitions open to school students, university students, and the general public.

The Launching of the Marine Conservation Corner will be held on:
Day/Date: Tuesday, 10 February 2026
Time: 09.00 – 12.00 WIB
Venue: DISKP Office, North Sumatra Province

Carrying the spirit of education and creativity, the launching event will be complemented by four competitions, namely a Photo Competition, Video Reels Competition, Popular Article Writing Competition, and Infographic Competition, with attractive prizes in the form of exclusive merchandise and e-money.

 

1. Photo Competition

Theme: “North Sumatra Seas: Today and the Future”

This competition is open to school and university students in North Sumatra. Participants are required to submit one original photograph without any elements of SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, or intergroup issues), in JPG/PNG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Light editing is permitted without object manipulation, and the use of AI-generated images is strictly prohibited.

Competition Schedule:

  • Submission Period: 21 January – 3 February 2026

  • Winners Announcement: 10 February 2026

Submissions must be uploaded via a public (non-private) Instagram account and through the following link:

2. Video Reels Competition

Theme: “Marine Conservation Corner”

This reels competition is open to the general public. Videos must be recorded during the launching event or after visiting the Marine Conservation Corner. The content should showcase the visit and include an invitation for others to visit. The maximum duration is 90 seconds.

Competition Schedule:

  • Submission Period: 10 – 15 February 2026

  • Winners Announcement: 16 February 2026

Videos must be uploaded to Instagram (public account) with an informative caption and by tagging the official DISKP Provsu account.

 

3. Popular Article Writing Competition

Theme: “The Role of Youth in Supporting Marine Conservation”

This competition is intended for school and university students in North Sumatra. Each participant may submit one original article with a length of 1,500–2,000 words, in PDF format (Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 spacing).

Competition Schedule:

  • Submission Period: 21 January – 3 February 2026

  • Winners Announcement: 10 February 2026

4. Infographic Competition

Theme: “North Sumatra Seas: Today and the Future”

This competition is open to school and university students. Participants must submit an original infographic in A3 size, PDF format, containing valid data and clearly cited sources.

  • Submission Period: 21 January – 3 February 2026

  • Winners Announcement: 10 February 2026

Competition Prizes

Each competition category offers the following prizes:

  • First Prize: Exclusive merchandise + e-money IDR 500,000

  • Second Prize: Merchandise + e-money IDR 400,000

  • Third Prize: Merchandise + e-money IDR 300,000

Selected works will be used as educational materials in the Marine Conservation Corner area, with proper credit given to the creators. The judges’ decisions are final and cannot be contested.

Through this initiative, DISKP Provsu invites young people and the wider community to actively participate in raising awareness and concern for marine conservation in North Sumatra through creative and inspiring works.
