66th Anniversary Celebration of Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara

The 66th Dies Natalis celebration of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was held in a grand two-day event. The Faculty of Agriculture hopes this celebration will inspire further growth and global competitiveness.
Medan – FP USU: The 66th Dies Natalis celebration of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was successfully held over two consecutive days at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19, 2022).
This year, the celebration was chaired by Albert Gusvi Tanjung, SP., as the Chairman of the Committee from the Class of '92. The first day of the celebration began with a morning walk from 07:00 to 08:00 WIB, attended by all participants, including the entire Faculty of Agriculture community, the committee, alumni, and all invited guests for the 66th Dies Natalis celebration.
On the first day, the event continued with the formal Dies Natalis ceremony, held from 09:00 to 11:00 WIB in the Soeratman Hall of the Faculty of Agriculture. As the procession entered the open session room, it was accompanied by the song Gaudeamus Igitur, the academic anthem, leading the participants to their seats. The ceremony was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ibu Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS., with three taps of the gavel marking the start of the event.
The ceremony continued with a report from the committee chairman, Albert Gusvi Tanjung, SP., followed by speeches from the Ikatan Alumni (IKA) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Bapak Ir. Fauzi Yusuf, MM., and a report from the Dean of the Faculty, Ibu Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS.
The event also invited the Rector of USU, represented by the Secretary of USU, Bapak Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked (OG), Sp.OG., Subsp. F.E. R., who delivered a speech followed by a video message from the Rector of USU, Bapak Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si.
In the middle of the ceremony, the Regent of South Tapanuli, Bapak Dolly Putra Parlindungan Pasaribu, S.Pt., M.M., was invited to give a scientific oration on the theme “Acceleration of Agropreneurship for Sustainable Food Security.”
At the end of the ceremony, there was a symbolic exchange of souvenirs between the Faculty of Agriculture, the Regent of South Tapanuli, the Committee Chair, and the Dies Natalis Committee. A photo session was held with all honored guests who had attended, followed by a traditional dance performance to close the ceremony.
Afterward, the event moved to the inauguration of the Gazebo and the planting of superior seedlings at the Faculty of Agriculture's experimental field. This Gazebo was built by the Class of '92 alumni as part of their contribution to the Faculty of Agriculture, hoping it would be beneficial for the students.
In the afternoon, at 13:30 WIB, the celebration continued with a stage performance and entertainment held at the Agribusiness Program Study area. The celebration included a birthday cake cutting, chess competitions, fun games, and a fishing contest. There were also door prizes and awards for competition participants. At the end of the first day, the committee mandate was handed over from the Class of '92 to the Class of '93.
On the second day, the 66th Dies Natalis celebration continued with a public lecture on the theme "Key to Success in Entering the Workforce and Building a Brilliant Career". The speakers for the public lecture included Edward Simatupang (Training Manager at STA Group), Erwind Davis Nasution (Director at Wilmar Group), Guntoro (Vice Rector of ITSI), Mahmud Irfan Lubis (Manager at PTPN IV), Harapan Lumbantoruan (SM HRGA PT. ABM), and Shinta Renika Br. Sitepu (Branch Manager at BNI).
The public lecture was enthusiastically attended by the students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara. Each session provided an opportunity for direct discussion and Q&A with the speakers, with prizes awarded to participants who asked or answered questions as a recognition of their enthusiasm.
This marks the festive sequence of the 66th Dies Natalis celebration of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara. We hope this celebration will inspire the Faculty to rise and grow higher, becoming a proud institution capable of competing globally.
