The Undergraduate and Master Programs in Agrotechnology and Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held an Alumni Gathering event. This activity was held at D'Heritage Grand Aston Medan on Saturday (23/12/2023).
The Alumni Gathering was attended by 20 alumni who also act as users or users of graduates, Vice Deans I and III of FP USU, Heads of Study Programs, and Secretaries of Undergraduate and Master Programs in Agrotechnology, as well as Doctoral Programs in Agricultural Sciences, and several study program lecturers.
Head of the Undergraduate Agrotechnology Department of FP USU, Dr Nini Rahmawati SP MSi explained that the event was funded by the university through the Directorate of Internationalization. The study program invited 20 best alumni and users who were considered very instrumental in efforts to increase QS Ranking and realize USU as a World Class University.
In the discussion session at the meeting, several recommendations were agreed upon by the faculty and study programs, including the need to establish better cooperation between alumni and study programs, faculties and universities to support the improvement of USU's QS Ranking as a World Class University. In addition, this activity is also expected to support the implementation of the MBKM program.
Alumni are also asked for their willingness to be intensely involved in achieving KPIs, especially KPI 2 and KPI 4. Meetings with alumni are expected to run continuously, and a special forum is needed to unite all alumni of the agrotechnology study program.
Head of Master Program in Agrotechnology and Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Luthfi Aziz Mahmud Siregar SP M Sc said, through the meeting it is hoped that alumni and stakeholders can participate in improving the quality standards of the Faculty of Agriculture, especially for the Agrotechnology Study Program which will pioneer efforts towards international accreditation.
Vice Dean III FP, USU Prof. Dr. Ir Elisa Julianti, M.Si. said, “The alumni gathering that was held was the first time carried out by the Faculty of Agriculture or the Agrotechnology Study Program. Where this activity is part of the Equity program at USU. However, every year, FP USU also invites alumni to attend the faculty, especially in the Anniversary activities”.
