Faculty of Agriculture USU welcomed BRIN's collaboration visit to strengthen joint research. BRIN provides research support in agriculture and food sectors for FP USU lecturers.
Medan – FP USU: The Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) conducted a collaboration visit to the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the DH Penny Building.
The event began with opening remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, represented by Vice Dean III, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. The next remarks were delivered by Dr. Simon Petrus Ginting from BRIN’s Livestock Research Organization and Puji Lestari, Ph.D., Head of the Agricultural and Food Research Organization at BRIN.
In this session, Vice Dean I, Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si., explained the Doctoral Program by Research, which has been successfully implemented in collaboration with BRIN. Additionally, Luthfi Aziz Mahmud Siregar, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Master’s Program in Agrotechnology and Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science, provided further details on the procedures and workflow of the program.
The event became more engaging with a presentation by Puji Lestari, Ph.D., titled "Agricultural and Food Research Organization." The presentation highlighted BRIN's research divisions in agriculture and food, including:
Food Technology and Process Research Center,
Agroindustry Research Center,
Food Crop Research Center,
Horticulture and Plantation Research Center (PR HB),
Livestock Research Center,
Appropriate Technology Research Center, and
Agricultural Land Research Center.
During this visit, lecturers from various study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture were invited to collaborate in producing high-quality research. BRIN also offered robust support systems to facilitate joint research efforts.
The collaborative research visit proceeded smoothly, with enthusiastic and interactive discussions among participants. The event started at 08.30 and concluded at 12.00 WIB.
At the end of the event, Vice Dean I, Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si., delivered the closing remarks. The event concluded with a plaque handover from the Faculty of Agriculture to BRIN, followed by a group photo session to commemorate the collaboration.
