The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara welcomed PT. Koto Kencana Mandiri (Jika Chocolat) to discuss a potential collaboration in cocoa cultivation and processing. This partnership aims to produce Cokelat USU as a flagship product.
The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara welcomed a visit from PT. Koto Kencana Mandiri (Jika Chocolat) on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Faculty Dean's Meeting Room.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. R. Hamdani Harahap, M.Si. (Lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences), Baldwin Jehanno (Owner of Jika Chocolat), Felicia (Indonesian Diaspora), Dr. Nini Rahmawati, S.P., M.Si. (Head of the Agrotechnology Undergraduate Program), the Head of the Cooperation Subdivision, and Expert Staff.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss a potential collaboration between Jika Chocolat and the Faculty of Agriculture in cocoa cultivation and processing, from bean to bar.
"If this collaboration is successfully implemented, we hope it will result in Cokelat USU as a flagship product," said Baldwin.
Felicia added, "This initiative is part of the annual Pulang Kampung program for the Indonesian Diaspora in America, and we will review the outcomes next year."
In his warm welcome, Prof. Tavi stated, "The Faculty of Agriculture has several study programs that could contribute to this collaboration. The faculty is also willing to facilitate communication with Universitas Sumatera Utara regarding this partnership."
Hopefully, this collaboration will materialize and bring significant benefits to the university, faculty, and industry partners.
