The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU) welcomed a visit from the Animal Science Department of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) on Monday, June 23, 2025. The meeting took place in the Main Building Meeting Room of FP USU.

The visit was warmly received by the Dean of FP USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS, accompanied by the Vice Dean III, staff, the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, as well as lecturers and student representatives from IMAPET USU. From USK, the delegation included Dr. Zuraida Hanum, S.Pt., M.Si. (Head of the Department of Animal Science), Zikri Maulina Gasnur, S.Pt., M.Si. (Department Secretary), Dr. Alaili, S.Pt., M.Si. (Head of the Diploma in Livestock Production Program), several lecturers, and students from Master's, Bachelor's, and Diploma programs.

In his remarks, Prof. Tavi expressed USU's strong support for the initiative and its hope for continued growth in collaboration between both institutions. “The Faculty of Agriculture at USU warmly welcomes this collaboration initiative and hopes that many joint programs will be established between FP USU and the Department of Animal Science of USK,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Zuraida Hanum expressed her hope that the collaboration would enhance the academic identities of both institutions, especially in education, research, and student engagement. "We hope that the Department of Animal Science of USK and the Animal Science Program of USU can collaborate while embracing the unique characteristics of each field," said Dr. Zuraida Hanum.

In addition to the academic discussions, the visit also explored student collaboration opportunities between IMAPET USU and Animal Science students from USK. The visit concluded with a tour of the Closed House Teaching Farm at FP USU, showcasing USU's technology-based learning facilities in the field of animal husbandry.

This visit is expected to mark the beginning of a broader academic and research synergy between FP USU and FP USK in advancing the livestock sector in Indonesia.
