Discussion on the implementation of the research collaboration between the Department of Aquatic Resource Management at Universitas Sumatera Utara and PT Prima Agro Tech focused on verifying yellow Vibrio-based aquaculture products in North Sumatra.
Held in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, a discussion on the implementation of a research collaboration took place between the Aquatic Resource Management Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and PT Prima Agro Tech on Friday, February 4, 2022.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., the Head and Secretary of the Aquatic Resource Management Study Program, Desrita, S.Pi., M.Si. and Astrid Fauzia Dewinta S.St.Pi., M.Si., the Director of PT Prima Agro Tech, Gunawan Sutio, S.P., along with his team, and the lecturers from the Aquatic Resource Management Study Program.
This discussion on the implementation of the collaboration is part of the outcome of the MoA signing between the Faculty of Agriculture and PT Prima Agro Tech. "This collaboration is intended to bring new resolutions to the aquaculture sector in Indonesia, where we want to explore and verify that the potential use of yellow Vibrio brings positive or non-pathogenic effects in ponds/tambaks by verifying non-pathogenic Vibrio strains that can be used as aquatic products through isolate tests with the correct methods and applications," said a representative from PT Prima Agro Tech.

The collaboration was well-received by the Dean and Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, who entrusted the Aquatic Resource Management Study Program to continue and verify the product in ponds/tambaks in North Sumatra that have been detected with AHPND attacks. The Head of the Aquatic Resource Management Study Program, along with the young lecturers, agreed to the collaboration. “The verification of these four products will be carried out in biofloc ponds with different experimental methods to determine which method has the best product effectiveness," said Desrita, S.Pi., M.Si., the Head of the Aquatic Resource Management Study Program.
To conclude the discussion, Gunawan Sutio, S.P. explained the product that has been tested. "This product has also been verified in biofloc ponds in Banten and ponds in Subang with a 95% success rate, so there is no need to worry about its quality," said Gunawan Sutio, S.P., Director of PT Prima Agro Tech.
