A dynamic agricultural environment provides students with opportunities to gain a closer understanding of how agricultural activities take place outside the academic environment. Through Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS), students of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), visited the UPTD for Plantation Crop Seed Production of the Department of Agriculture and Food Security to participate in a series of field-based learning activities.
The students' presence at the activity site provided an opportunity to become familiar with work processes and agricultural activities taking place directly in the field. Various activities encountered in the field provided new perspectives on the application of agrotechnology while demonstrating the connection between academic knowledge and agricultural practices. This different learning environment also encouraged students to become more actively involved in observing, interacting, and understanding actual conditions in the agricultural environment.
This process formed part of the learning that enriched students' perspectives on various activities and needs in the agricultural sector. PLPS at the UPTD for Plantation Crop Seed Production served as one of the learning experiences that brought students closer to the agricultural environment. Through this activity, students gained insights that complemented the learning process throughout their education in the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology.
Learning in the field, developing competencies, and preparing a generation for sustainable agriculture. This PLPS activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
