The Agrotechnology Program Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), not only provides students with opportunities to learn outside the campus environment but also opens opportunities to gain learning experiences in an international agricultural environment. Through this program, students of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology undertake an internship at FARMTOPIA CO., LTD., Rankoshi, Isoya-gun, Hokkaido, Japan.

The activity provides students with the opportunity to become directly involved in agricultural activities in Japan. Through their involvement in the local agricultural work environment, students can learn about agricultural systems, agricultural activity management practices, and the work culture implemented in Japan. This serves as a learning experience that broadens students' perspectives on agricultural practices outside Indonesia.

Learning in an international agricultural environment also provides students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired during their studies in real-world work situations. In addition to technical skills, students can develop their ability to adapt, communicate, work independently, and understand the dynamics of a work environment with a different cultural background.

The implementation of PLPS in Hokkaido, Japan, is one form of learning development that provides Agrotechnology students of the Faculty of Agriculture USU with opportunities to gain international experience. This activity also supports the efforts of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology to prepare students with the competencies and readiness to face the world of work and the increasingly broad and dynamic developments in the agricultural sector.

Learn directly, develop skills, and broaden experience to become competent and adaptive agricultural professionals. This PLPS activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
