By learning in an environment directly related to the development of agricultural technology, students of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), gained new experiences through the Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) at the Agricultural Assembly and Modernization Agency (BRMP) North Sumatra. This activity provided students with an opportunity to gain a closer understanding of the dynamics of agricultural assembly and modernization within a work environment that supports the development of technology and innovation in the agricultural sector.
During the activity, students were able to observe and understand various aspects related to agricultural assembly and modernization. This experience provided an overview of how technological developments can be applied to support activities and the development of the agricultural sector while introducing students to a work environment closely related to the field of agrotechnology.
Students' direct involvement also provided an opportunity to connect the material learned during their studies with actual conditions and activities in the field. Academic knowledge that had previously been learned in the classroom could be placed in a more practical context, allowing students to gain a broader understanding of the application of agricultural knowledge and the technological developments accompanying it. In addition to enriching academic understanding, the experience at BRMP North Sumatra also provided opportunities for students to develop practical skills, adaptability, and an understanding of the professional work environment. Interaction with various activities in the agricultural sector provided an experience that enriched students' perspectives on the needs and challenges of the continuously developing agricultural sector.
Through PLPS, students' learning experiences are obtained not only through the learning process on campus but also through direct involvement in work environments relevant to the agricultural field. This experience forms part of the process of developing students' competencies so that they are increasingly prepared to face developments in technology, innovation, and workforce needs in the agricultural sector.
