The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) commemorated its 69th Anniversary with the theme “Agricultural Transformation Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045,” marking a strategic moment for the academic community and alumni to strengthen collaboration and foster agricultural innovation in the digital era. This celebration also serves as an opportunity for the faculty to reflect on its long journey while reinforcing its contribution to national agricultural development.
The series of activities was organized by the 1995 alumni cohort, who took the initiative to present academic programs and social gatherings aimed at enhancing networking and encouraging collaboration between alumni, the academic community, and strategic partners. The Committee Chair, Sori Pardomuan Ritonga, SP., MM., emphasized that this year’s anniversary celebration is an important platform to reaffirm the commitment to agricultural transformation in support of Indonesia’s 2045 vision.
The academic agenda began with a public lecture titled “Asta Cita and the Future of Indonesian Agriculture” delivered by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Ali Jamil, MP., Ph.D. The lecture provided strategic insights on the direction of national agricultural development and opportunities to build a resilient and competitive agricultural sector.
The program continued with a thematic seminar on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation for Advancing Indonesia’s Oil Palm Industry and Agricultural Sectors,” featuring experts from IPB University and PTPN IV PalmCo. The session discussed the implementation of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and precision agriculture to enhance productivity and sustainability in the palm oil industry as well as the broader agricultural sector.
In addition to academic activities, the 69th Anniversary celebration also featured an Alumni and Academic Community Gathering as a platform to strengthen camaraderie, broaden professional networks, and reflect on the contributions of alumni to the development of the faculty and national agriculture. On this occasion, the Faculty of Agriculture inaugurated the FP USU Landmark as a symbol of identity, history, and dedication of the entire academic community.
The main event on 21 November 2025 included committee reports, remarks from USU leadership and the Alumni Association, the inauguration of the IKA FP USU Board for the 2025–2030 period, a ceremonial rice cone cutting, as well as various competitions and performances. The celebration concluded on 22 November 2025 with a healthy walk, zumba session, communal breakfast, performances, alumni dances, announcement of competition winners, the handover ceremony for the 70th Anniversary Committee, and a closing luncheon.
The entire series of events reaffirmed the commitment of the Faculty of Agriculture at USU to remain a center of innovation and collaboration in realizing Indonesia’s agricultural transformation and the country’s vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.
