Medan — The Dean and the entire Academic Community of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), congratulate and wish success to the Student Creativity Program in Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) TANBIO-BAG Team on successfully qualifying for the 39th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) 2026 at Universitas Diponegoro.
The TANBIO-BAG Team presents an innovation titled “Ecosystem-Friendly Nursery, Soil Fertility, and Plant Root Resilience via OPEFB Biochar and Rice Husk Ash Biodegradable Polybags.” This idea highlights the utilization of agricultural waste-based materials, specifically oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) and rice husk ash, for the development of biodegradable polybags that support eco-friendly nursery practices.

The TANBIO-BAG Team is chaired by Helsa Natasya Br Sembiring (FP), with team members Hegita Veronika Br Sembiring (FP), Andri Wifali (FP), Annisa Anggun Ray (FP), and Putra Jernius Batee (FT). The team is supervised by Beatrix Sofranes Napitupulu, S.Agr., M.Agr., from the Faculty of Agriculture, USU.
The TANBIO-BAG innovation aligns with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through the conversion of agricultural waste into value-added products, as well as SDG 15 (Life on Land) through efforts to support soil management and more environmentally friendly agricultural practices. This innovation also reflects the student entrepreneurial spirit in developing solutions based on local resources.
The Faculty of Agriculture USU appreciates this achievement and hopes that the TANBIO-BAG Team will attain the best results at PIMNAS 39 and continue to develop innovations that support sustainable agriculture.
Congratulations and best wishes for success to the PKM-K TANBIO-BAG Team. May you continue to innovate, inspire, and provide tangible solutions for sustainable agriculture and the environment!
