The USU Faculty of Agriculture supports internationalization efforts toward becoming a World Class University through ASIIN accreditation. The on-site visit was successfully conducted on December 2–3, 2024.

The Faculty of Agriculture is committed to supporting Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in its internationalization efforts to become a World Class University. To achieve this goal, the Faculty of Agriculture has prepared several study programs for international accreditation. The Agrotechnology, Animal Husbandry, and Food Technology Study Programs form a single cluster (Cluster A) to be accredited by the international accreditation agency ASIIN from Germany. The on-site visits for the accreditation process were conducted on December 2–3, 2024.

The ASIIN expert team conducting the assessment for Cluster A included Prof. Dr. Dr. Matthias Gauly from Freie Universität Bozen, Prof. Dr. Peter Braun from Geisenheim University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Riska Rian Fauziah, S.Pt., M.Sc., M.P. from the University of Jember, M.Sc. Yayang Vionita from Verstegen Spices & Sauces BV, and Ms. Levina Putri Wijaya, a Food Technology student at IPB University. They were accompanied by another ASIIN team member, Dr. Emeline Jerez.

On the first day, the ASIIN team held a Q&A session with USU representatives, followed by meetings with the Faculty of Agriculture and the related study programs. The team also inspected facilities such as laboratories and other learning resources at the Faculty of Agriculture. All activities proceeded smoothly and on schedule.

On the second day, the assessment began with a meeting between the ASIIN team and students, followed by discussions with faculty members. The day concluded with the presentation of the team’s findings and recommendations to improve Cluster A programs to meet international standards. During the closing session, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., Vice Rector III of USU, expressed gratitude to the ASIIN team, the Faculty of Agriculture, the study programs, and all involved parties for their hard work. She hoped these efforts would support USU’s vision of becoming a World Class University.

As the final part of the visit, a closing dinner was held, attended by representatives from BPM USU, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T., as USU’s representative, the Faculty of Agriculture’s leadership, and the Cluster A study program teams. The event concluded with the presentation of special North Sumatra souvenirs by BPM USU, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the study programs to the ASIIN team.
