The first chicken harvest at the Teaching Farm Closed House, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was conducted on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 4:00 PM WIB.


This inaugural harvest was attended by the Rector of USU, the Dean of FP USU, Vice Deans II and III, as well as the Head and Secretary of the Undergraduate Livestock Program, Master's Program in Agrotechnology, and Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences.


Out of a total of 20,000 chick-in chickens, 19,722 were successfully harvested, with a mortality rate of 278 chickens or 1.39%. The total weight of the harvested chickens was 39,159.4 kg, with an average weight of 1.98 kg per chicken.


This achievement is hoped to mark a positive step toward future chicken harvests from the Teaching Farm Closed House FP USU.
