The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), strengthened its cooperation with PT Medion Farma Jaya through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement and Cooperation Implementation Agreement held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The agreements were signed by the Dean of FP USU, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., and the President Director of PT Medion Farma Jaya, Ina Irena Jonas Jahja, MBA. The cooperation serves as a strategic step toward strengthening relations between higher education institutions and industry, particularly in human resource development, research, and the implementation of programs that provide benefits to the community.

The agreed scope of cooperation covers three main areas, namely the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, recruitment and provision of graduate lists, and research. The CSR program includes Field Work Practice (PKL) and studium generale, which can provide students with opportunities to gain experience and insights into the industrial sector.

In the area of recruitment, the cooperation is aimed at expanding access to employment opportunities for FP USU graduates while helping PT Medion Farma Jaya obtain human resources that meet the company's needs. Meanwhile, cooperation in research is expected to open opportunities for collaboration in developing research relevant to industry needs, particularly in the fields of animal science and animal health.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Vice Dean II of FP USU for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Assets, Prof. Luthfi Aziz Mahmud Siregar, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Vice Dean III of FP USU for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Dr. Ir. Posma Mangasi Pintaria Marbun, M.P.; Head of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, Ir. Achmad Sadeli, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN.Eng.; and Manager of Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Dian Pebriyani, S.P., M.P. From PT Medion Farma Jaya, the activity was attended by Asep Setiana, S.M., as Medion HRD, along with his team.

PT Medion Farma Jaya is a company that provides pharmaceutical products, vaccines, and laboratory services to support animal health. For 50 years, Medion has continued to develop quality animal health products and services while supporting innovation through research, technology, and professional human resources.

Through this cooperation, FP USU and PT Medion Farma Jaya are committed to building mutually beneficial synergy and expanding opportunities for collaboration between higher education institutions and industry. The cooperation is expected to provide benefits for students and graduates while encouraging the development of research and other activities relevant to the needs of society and the workforce.

The collaboration between FP USU and PT Medion Farma Jaya also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through strengthening relations between higher education institutions and industry, this cooperation is expected to support the improvement of student and graduate competencies, expand employment opportunities, and develop sustainable collaboration.
