The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), held the Impact-Oriented ORMAWA Workshop to prepare student organizations for participation in the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK ORMAWA) 2026. The workshop was conducted in a hybrid format on Saturday (7/2/2026) at the DH Penny Building, FP USU, and via Zoom Meeting.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), organized the Impact-Oriented ORMAWA Workshop as part of its efforts to prepare student organizations for participation in the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK ORMAWA) 2026. The activity was held on Saturday (7/2/2026) in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions at the DH Penny Building, FP USU, and via Zoom.

The workshop aimed to empower students to design and implement work programs that are not only active in terms of activities but also generate real impact for the community through a scientific approach. In addition, the activity was expected to enhance student leadership and develop both hard and soft skills through direct community service in villages.

In her opening remarks, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, Prof. Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si., emphasized the importance of a paradigm shift in student organization activities. According to her, it is no longer sufficient for students to be merely active and busy with activities; they must also be able to demonstrate tangible benefits from every program implemented. “Students are not only required to carry out work programs, but also to ensure that these programs can address real problems in the community. This is where the spirit of impact-oriented student organizations becomes truly relevant,” she stated.

Furthermore, Prof. Lisnawita expressed her hope that participants would follow all sessions seriously, especially those related to guidelines for writing PPK ORMAWA proposals. This is important so that students’ impact-driven ideas can be formulated systematically and aligned with program requirements, as well as supported by supervisors who share the same vision.

The workshop featured three speakers who shared their experiences and insights on student organization development and PPK ORMAWA. The first session was delivered by the Chair of HMJ IMASEP 2024/2025, Alwan Lubis, S.P., with the topic Building Students’ Work Skills through the Implementation of Student Organization Programs. The second session was presented by the Chair of PPK ORMAWA IMASPERA 2023, Hilal Idama Dalimunthe, S.Pi., who shared reflections and experiences from implementing PPK ORMAWA.

Meanwhile, the third session was delivered by the National Reviewer of PPK ORMAWA BELMAWA, Dr. Sahran Sahputra, S.Sos., M.Sos., who provided a comprehensive overview of proposal structure, pilot sub-proposals, and development sub-proposals.

The activity ran interactively through discussion and question-and-answer sessions involving student organization members within FP USU. The workshop was attended by the Vice Dean I of FP USU, Heads of Study Programs, the Dean’s Expert Staff, and student organization members of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Through this activity, the Faculty of Agriculture USU hopes that students will not only focus on competition success but also be able to present ideas and concrete actions that deliver positive and sustainable impacts for the community.
