Universitas Sumatera Utara, hosted the Indonesia Investment Festival 2016. This event, held over two days on October 28-29, 2016, at the USU Pendopo, was a collaboration between the IDX Association (Indonesia Stock Exchange), OJK (Financial Services Authority), and HIPMI (Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association) at USU.
Adopting the theme 'Saatnya Jadi Investor Muda' (Time to be a Young Investor), the event was simultaneously conducted across Indonesia, including in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and other cities. Its aim was to disseminate information related to stocks, stock exchanges, and IDX to the general public, students, and university students, demonstrating that IDX is not just for entrepreneurs but for everyone. The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Runtung, S.H., stated that the event was excellent and very beneficial, especially for introducing stocks and capital markets to students.
“Most students and the general public do not understand or know about stocks and capital markets, let alone participate in them,” he said. Prof. Runtung hoped that the event would be well-received and understood by students so they could engage in transactions or save stocks, which would benefit them and increase their income.
Separately, Rial Syahputra from the Faculty of Economics and Business mentioned that in this event, HIPMI USU served as the committee and collaborated with the IDX Association and OJK to organize similar events in 21 cities across Indonesia.
“In relation to Youth Pledge Day 2016, we aim to educate students and young people to actively invest in the capital market, understand it, and invest correctly and technically,” he said. He added that there are platforms and communities for those interested in investing in the capital market, such as ISB and IDX. Rial hoped that many young people and students would be interested in investing in the capital market.
As known, the Indonesia Investment Festival 2016 at the USU Pendopo was open to the public. The event lineup included a seminar from OJK on the first day, followed by a talk show from HIPMI. This was succeeded by a Modeling competition and concluded with a performance by Medan's Wina Band.
On the second day, seminars were given by IDX Youth Investors and OJK, followed by a Speech Competition and a performance by Hazelnut Band. The event also featured a Photography Competition, a Food Bazaar, free health checks, an Expo, and more.
