The USU Faculty of Agriculture successfully organized the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) Year 2024. This activity has been held for 3 consecutive days on August 13-15, 2024 which was held at the Mini Stadium and USU Student Center with the title “Embracing The Future, Advancing Together”. This year a total of 7,350 people have registered as new USU students and a total of 811 people are registered as new students of the USU Faculty of Agriculture class of 2024.
USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M. Si., congratulated the new students who had graduated from the Universitas Sumatera Utara. The USU Rector expects success during education by achieving brilliant achievements both in academics and non-academics, both locally and internationally and is advised to find out the interests and talents that want to be developed in the world of lectures early.
The first day of PKKMB USU this year began with a report on PKKMB USU 2024 activities by Vice Rector I directly and remarks from the Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology online. The event was further enlivened by the presentation of North Sumatra regional dances performed by Lentera Nataraja USU Dance UKM, angklung performances by Psychestra Harmony from the Angklung Choir of the Faculty of Psychology USU, and the implementation of the Green Campus program at PKKMB 2024.
On the first day, after leaving the USU Mini Stadium, the new students of the Faculty of Agriculture headed to the USU Student Center. Here, they received a warm welcome from the Dean of the USU Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., who gave an introduction to the faculty and introduced the Vice Deans, Heads, and Secretaries of Study Programs. In addition, the Faculty of Agriculture also invited the best speakers in their fields, namely M. Aziz Rizky Lubis, S.S., M.A. (Material: Core Values of the Digital Era), Roy Fachraby Ginting, S.H., M.Kn. (Material: National Insight), and Dr. Nini Rahmawati, S.P., M.Si. (Material: Higher Education System in Indonesia).
On the second day, PKKMB 2024 activities continued with other interesting materials, namely by Dr. Lita Sri Andayani, SKM, M.Kes. (Material: Environmental Awareness and Healthy Campus), Suri Mutia Siregar, S.Psi., M.Psi. (Material: Intellectual Character and Anti-Violence), as well as an introduction to the USU Library by USU Librarians. In addition, this activity also included an introduction to the Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture by the Head of the Study Program, consisting of Agrotechnology, Agribusiness, Animal Husbandry, Food Technology, Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering, and Aquatic Resources Management.
The third day of PKKMB began with the provision of material by interesting speakers, namely Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec. (Material: Higher Education in the Era of Industrial Revolution) and Dr. Lukman Adlin Harahap, S.T.P., M.Si. (Material: Ke-USU-an). In addition, the third day of PKKMB this year was even more interesting with the socialization of P2MW by Galih Ari Wirawan Siregar, S.Pt., M.Si., socialization of PKM and PPK Ormawa by Vindy Rilani Manurung, S.Pi., M.P. (Head of PKKMB 2024), as well as direct testimonials from outstanding students of the Faculty of Agriculture.
The Faculty of Agriculture also provides student activities. In this PKKMB, the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, the Faculty Student Representative Council, HMJ (HIMAGROTEK, IMTP, IMASPERA, IMAPET, IMATETA, IMASEP), and UKM (BKM AL MUKHLISIN, HN, KLINTAN) introduced their activities so that new students would be more enthusiastic and achieve, both in the academic and non-academic fields through various student activities.
This activity was even more lively, with vocal solos from the committee and new students, as well as games and flash mobs from the committee that diluted the atmosphere towards the peak of the excitement of the event. At the end of the PKKMB activity, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and BEM Faculty pinned the alma mater as a legal procession of new students of the USU Faculty of Agriculture. Ditmawalumni USU, Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi, M.Psi, also greeted the participants of PKKMB 2024 Faculty of Agriculture USU and closed the activity. She advised the new students to immediately make plans for the future so that they can graduate on time and have brilliant achievements both in the academic and non-academic fields at the Universitas Sumatera Utara.
