The signing of the MoA between PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro and the USU Faculty of Agriculture, accompanied by a public lecture and campus hiring on October 18, 2024, opened up career opportunities for millennials in the plantation sector. A total of 22 FP USU alumni successfully passed the initial stage and are ready to proceed to the interview selection.

The MoA signing between PT Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA) and the Faculty of Agriculture of USU was held, accompanied by a public lecture entitled “People Development Practices BGA Group” and BGA Campus Hiring. This series of events took place on October 18, 2024 at Soeratman Hall, Faculty of Agriculture USU.

In this event, Deputy Head of Human Capital of PT BGA, Mr. Ade Agung Laksono, was present as a representative of PT BGA in signing the MoA as well as a guest speaker at the public lecture. The Faculty of Agriculture also invited Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS (Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture), Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si (Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture), Yustika Venawati, S.Si. (Head of Research, Community Service, and Cooperation), and Vindy Rilani Manurung, S.Pi., M.P. (lecturer and moderator of the public lecture). The event was attended by students and alumni from inside and outside the USU Faculty of Agriculture.

In the public lecture, Mr. Ade Agung Laksono gave a presentation on why alumni should consider a career in the plantation sector. Working in plantations is labor-intensive, which provides life and welfare to many families. In addition, plantations can be an ideal environment for millennials to develop, both in educational, humanitarian, and health aspects, and form an adaptive and prospective personality.

“Palm oil plantations today need millennials and Gen Z to build together to be better and more sustainable,” said Mr. Ade enthusiastically.

One of the inspiring messages from Mr. Ade was, “Young people do lack experience. Therefore, they do not offer the past; young people offer the future!”

After the public lecture, PT BGA also held a campus hiring, and 22 FP USU alumni successfully passed the selection in the psychological test. The successful selection of participants will continue to the interview stage with PT BGA's HR team.

It is hoped that all alumni who take part in the selection interview to become Management Trainee (MT) BGA will get the expected results. Cheers to all selection participants!
