The activity was also attended by representatives from the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Service of North Sumatra Province, the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service of Medan City, the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) Medan, as well as the Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (PSDKP) Belawan. The involvement of these various agencies reflects the importance of cross-sectoral coordination in strengthening fishery product supervision, ranging from landing and marketing sites to consumers.
The participation of MSP USU lecturers in this activity represents one form of higher education involvement in supporting the application of science in society. Collaboration between academics and government agencies is expected to strengthen efforts to increase awareness regarding the importance of fishery product quality and safety, while encouraging handling and marketing practices for fishery products that comply with applicable regulations.

Through this market inspection activity, quality control of marine and fishery products is expected to become increasingly optimal so that the community obtains quality, safe, and suitable fishery products. Additionally, this activity stands as a shared commitment to maintaining consumer trust and supporting the sustainability of the marine and fisheries sector.
This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through support for access to safe and quality food; SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through efforts to protect public health from food risks that do not meet safety requirements; SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through strengthening quality control and safety of fishery products; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between higher education institutions and various government agencies.
With this synergy, MSP USU continues to support the strengthening of responsible aquatic resources and fisheries governance, while contributing to realizing a safe, quality, and sustainable food system for the community.
