The XIV National Agricultural Engineering Week (PTPN) 2024 was successfully held by IMATETANI on October 21-26 at USU, carrying the theme of young generation innovation towards smart and talented agricultural engineering. This activity involves national seminars, LKTI presentations, and alumni forums, as a place to improve the abilities and innovations of Indonesian Agricultural Engineering students.

The XIV National Agricultural Engineering Week (PTPN) 2024 was held by the Indonesian Agricultural Engineering Student Association (IMATETANI) on October 21-26, 2024. This week carries the theme “Menyalakan Kesadaran dan Menyulut Semangat Inovasi Membangkitkan Semangat Inovasi Generasi Muda Teknik Pertanian Menuju Teknik Pertanian yang Cerdas dan BerTALENTA”.

The opening ceremony of PTPN XIV was held at the USU Student Center (22/10/2024). This opening event contained a series of speeches by Andreas Rezki Silaban (Chairman of PTPN XIV Events), Betrand Willdanni (Chairman of IMATETA), Ahmad Fadhil Ananda Suheri Hasibuan (Chairman of IMATETANI), Dr. Ir. Taufik Rizaldi S.T.P., M.P (Head of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Department of FP USU), Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S (Dean of Faculty of Agriculture USU), Plt. Mayor of Medan, Aulia Rachman, represented by Gelora KP Ginting (Head of DKP3 Medan), and Acting Governor of North Sumatra, represented by Muhammad Juwaini (Head of Food Crops Division of Food Security, Food Crops, and Horticulture Office of North Sumatra).

“This event is very necessary because it is an opportunity for students to be able to develop themselves in the future so that they can realize the message conveyed by the president, namely Indonesia becoming the world's food barn,” explained Mr. Gelora in starting his remarks.

“The presence of young people in North Sumatra's agriculture is highly expected to introduce new technologies and innovations in agriculture because the younger generation is closer to technology than older farmers,” explained Mr. Juwaini in his speech.

As the highlight of the opening ceremony, there was also a national seminar presented by Riswanti Sigalingging, S.T.P., M.Si., Ph.D as a resource person, who is one of the TPB Study Program Lecturers in the field of Renewable Energy and Agricultural Technology.

The PTPN XIV event also held LKTI participant presentations, exhibition tours, alumni forums, awarding, and field trips. Hopefully, this activity can be one of the events for Agricultural Engineering students in Indonesia so that they can increasingly provide their best innovations in the field of Agricultural Engineering to make Indonesian Agriculture smart and talented Agricultural engineers.
