The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully held the 2026 Faculty-Level Student Achievement Selection (PILMAPRES) on Tuesday (April 7, 2026) at the DH Penny Building. This event served as a prestigious platform for students to demonstrate their academic capabilities, creativity, and innovation through scientific papers that offer solutions to various agricultural and food security challenges.
The event was officially opened with remarks by the Vice Dean I, Prof. Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si., who emphasized that PILMAPRES is not merely an academic competition but also a platform to showcase students’ creativity and innovation. A total of nine finalists from various study programs participated in the competition. They presented scientific papers focusing on innovations in agriculture, food technology, and animal husbandry, incorporating modern approaches such as the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and circular economy concepts. All presentations and Q&A sessions were conducted in English, demonstrating the students’ readiness for higher-level competitions.
Various compelling innovations were presented, ranging from IoT-based digital agriculture solutions and high-fiber food innovations to technology-based traceability systems supporting national food security. Each participant systematically presented their ideas using presentation media, followed by feedback and questions from the panel of judges.
The evaluation was conducted by two judges: Dr. Lukman Adlin Harahap, S.TP., M.Si. (Lecturer of the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Study Program, FP USU) and Ir. Erni Misran, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. (Lecturer of the Doctoral Program in Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering USU), who provided comprehensive assessments on the substance of the papers, presentation skills, and analytical depth of the participants.
Based on the final results, T. Muhammad Rifky Azhar from the Agribusiness Study Program secured First Place with his innovation titled “Smart Farming, Smart Management, Smart Human: Blockchain Technology for Traceability in the Palm Oil Supply Chain.” Second Place was awarded to Nia Aurelya Siburian (Agribusiness), followed by Tessa Septriani (Food Technology) in Third Place.
