Medan – FP USU: A Public Lecture with the theme "National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Program" has been successfully held at the Gelanggang Mahasiswa Building, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Thursday, October 20, 2022).
The event began with the singing of the national anthem "Indonesia Raya," followed by opening remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, representing the Vice Dean I, Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si. The next opening remarks were delivered by the Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si.
The main event followed with a public lecture on the theme "National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Program," presented by the leading speaker from BRIN, Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, M.Sc., Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The lecture was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
During the lecture, various programs offered by BRIN that can be utilized by faculty and students at Universitas Sumatera Utara were discussed. BRIN is an institution established by President Joko Widodo through Presidential Regulation No. 74 of 2019 on the National Research and Innovation Agency. According to this regulation, BRIN's tasks include conducting research, development, studies, and applications, as well as inventions and innovations in an integrated manner.
BRIN is the sole national research body in Indonesia. All national research institutions in Indonesia, such as the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), and the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN), have merged into BRIN.
During this session, the participants—faculty and students—were encouraged to develop their best research, which will receive support systems and guidance from BRIN. The aim is for this research to produce competent human resources in their respective fields, not only as researchers but also as successful entrepreneurs in the future.
This public lecture proceeded smoothly and has fostered a strong collaboration between Universitas Sumatera Utara and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Additionally, the session sparked enthusiastic and interactive discussions among the participants. The event took place from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM (WIB) in person at the Gelanggang Mahasiswa Building, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
At the end of the event, the activity was closed with the exchange of souvenirs between Universitas Sumatera Utara and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), followed by a photo session.
