USU’s Faculty of Agriculture collaborates with BRIN in a public lecture on strategies to enhance food security through research collaboration. The event featured expert speakers and was attended by USU academics, highlighting the role of research in supporting national food security.
The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a public lecture in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Soeratman Hall, Faculty of Agriculture. The public lecture carried the theme "Strategies for Enhancing Food Security Through Collaboration Between Universities and BRIN."
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S. (Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU), Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. (Vice Dean III), study program heads and secretaries within the Faculty of Agriculture, lecturers, and students.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., stated, "This public lecture is expected to facilitate the creation of high-quality research to develop strategies for achieving national food security in the future."
The keynote speaker at the event was Prof. Dr. Ir. Marsudi Wahyu Kisworo, I.P.U., a member of BRIN’s Advisory Board. Prof. Marsudi emphasized in his presentation, "Research should be beneficial to society and the business sector. BRIN acts as an orchestrator in the field of research, collaborating with various stakeholders, including universities and businesses."
At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti presented a certificate and a commemorative gift to Prof. Marsudi as a token of appreciation for the invaluable knowledge he shared during the lecture.
It is hoped that the Faculty of Agriculture at USU can continue to collaborate with BRIN in supporting research and innovation to achieve national food security.
