Researchers from USU Faculty of Agriculture and PPKS visited USU’s Tambunan Experimental Farm, Langkat, on August 6, 2025. The visit aimed to review areas planned for collaborative research with PTPN III and PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara.

The research team from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Department of Agrotechnology, together with the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute (PPKS), conducted a visit to USU’s Tambunan A Experimental Farm in Salapian Subdistrict, Langkat Regency, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

 

The visit aimed to assess the suitability of the area to be used for a collaborative research plan between USU, PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara, and PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (Holding).

 

Present at the event were several professors from the Faculty of Agriculture, USU, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Abdul Rauf, M.P., Prof. Luthfi A. M. Siregar, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Diana S. Hanafiah, S.P., M.P., Prof. Dr. Ir. Yaya Hasanah, M.Si., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Lisa Mawarni, M.P., accompanied by the dean’s expert staff, young lecturers, and postgraduate students. From PPKS, the visit was represented by Mr. Nanang Supena and his team, along with representatives from USU’s Asset and Business Management Bureau, Mr. Hakim and Mr. Harun.

 

The Head of USU’s Tambunan Experimental Farm, Mr. Topo Sitepu, welcomed the initiative. “I am very pleased with the presence of the research teams from the Faculty of Agriculture, USU, and PPKS, and I will fully cooperate in the preparation of this research,” said Mr. Topo Sitepu.

 

The activity concluded with a direct field inspection to review several areas considered suitable as nursery sites for the collaborative research project.
