The Animal Husbandry Study Program at USU’s Faculty of Agriculture held a retirement ceremony for Prof. Dr. Ir. Syed Umar, M.S., after 57 years of service as a lecturer. The event was attended by faculty officials and colleagues as a tribute to his dedication.

The Animal Husbandry Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a retirement ceremony for Prof. Dr. Ir. Syed Umar, M.S., on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the DH Penny Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, USU.

 

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Syed Umar, M.S.’s family, as well as several officials and academics from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, including the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture (Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S.), Vice Dean I (Prof. Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si.), Vice Dean II (Ir. Revandy Iskandar Muda Damanik, M.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.), and Vice Dean III (Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si.). Also present were the Head of the Master’s Program in Animal Science (Dr. Ir. Nevy Diana Hanafi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM), the Secretary of the Master’s Program in Animal Science (Dr. Ade Trisna, S.Pt., M.M.), the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Husbandry (Dr. Ir. Ma'ruf Tafsin, M.Si., IPM), and the Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Husbandry (Ir. Achmad Sadeli, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN.Eng.). The event was also attended by the heads of the Animal Husbandry Study Program laboratories, lecturers, and educational staff from the Faculty of Agriculture, USU.

 

The retirement ceremony for Prof. Dr. Ir. Syed Umar, M.S. began with a speech from the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Husbandry, Dr. Ir. Ma'ruf Tafsin, M.Si., IPM. Subsequently, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Tavi Supriana, along with Prof. Elisa, shared a few words, expressing appreciation and gratitude for his 57 years of dedication as a lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture.

 

Throughout his career, Prof. Syed Umar held several important positions, including Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) at USU, Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Head of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Husbandry at USU. His remarkable career journey has been a source of inspiration for the Animal Husbandry Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, USU.

 

May all the good deeds he has done become a continuous flow of blessings, and may he always be granted health and prosperity.
