Medan – FP USU: The PKM Center at Universitas Sumatera Utara conducted its PKM Road Show across all faculties from January 17 to 20, 2023. On Thursday, January 19, 2023, the Faculty of Agriculture (FP USU) had the opportunity to participate in this event virtually via Zoom.

The event began with opening remarks by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si. The session continued with a presentation by the PKM Center Coordinator, Dr. Erni Misran, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., who is also a lecturer from the Chemical Engineering Study Program.

During the presentation, the stages to advance to PIMNAS (National Student Scientific Week) were explained:

  1. Internal selection at USU.
  2. Proposal submission through Simbelmawa.
  3. Stage 1 proposal selection.
  4. Stage 2 proposal funding selection.
  5. Advancement to PIMNAS.

The presentation also highlighted strategies to avoid common mistakes in drafting PKM proposals, such as:

  • Selecting the wrong PKM scheme.
  • Misalignment between methods and budgets.
  • Unreasonable budgeting.
  • Ineffective and poorly targeted proposals.
  • Lack of creativity.
  • Errors in defining proposal outputs.
  • Incorrect proposal formatting.

The 2023 PKM Road Show ran smoothly and effectively. It served as a vital information platform for students to improve the quality of their PKM proposals. The Vice Dean I and supervising lecturers expressed high hopes that students from the Faculty of Agriculture would be more motivated to draft high-quality PKM proposals. They emphasized the importance of focusing not only on quantity but also on quality.

With these efforts, it is expected that more proposals from FP USU students will successfully advance to PIMNAS this year and achieve outstanding accomplishments.
