The main duties of lecturers in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education are education, research, and community service. To support these core tasks, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology annually holds a call for community service proposals for the academic community. Based on information released by the acting Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM) through letter number 0050/E5/A.K.04/2022, it was announced that the proposal submission deadline, initially set for February 10, 2022, has been extended to February 15, 2022. This is good news for the academic community who wish to submit proposals, especially given the tight deadline and the need for many lecturers to receive technical guidance on proposal writing. Therefore, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held a Socialization Session for Assistance in Preparing Community Service Proposals for DRTPM Funding on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

The socialization event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., who delivered an opening speech to encourage the researchers in preparing their proposals. He expressed hope that following this socialization, the number of proposals submitted by USU’s Faculty of Agriculture lecturers would increase. The Faculty also invited Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., and Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., as resource persons to present materials on how to prepare a good and correct proposal to pass administrative checks. In addition to the two national reviewers, the Community Service Institution (LPPM) also sent its representative, Mr. Irfan Syahputra, to participate in this event and provide technical information regarding the submission of DRTPM proposals.
Throughout the event, the lecturers and researchers actively participated in the socialization. Their engagement in asking questions and discussing with the three resource persons was evident, both theoretically and practically. The socialization session was closed by the Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. "I believe we can prepare our best proposals, and we from the WD III office are ready to assist you in preparing your proposals. I hope many proposals are submitted and pass the administrative checks for DRTPM funding this year," she concluded.
