The socialization of new student admissions for the Out-of-Campus Study Program (PSDKU-USU) in North Nias Regency for the 2022/2023 Academic Year, in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, was held on April 7, 2022. The visit was represented by Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si., the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
Based on the socialization results, Yulius Zai, S.T., the Expert Staff on Community Affairs and Human Resources of the North Nias Regent, who is also the Head of the PSDKU-USU Team, explained that three new study programs would be opened, namely the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Undergraduate Program in Animal Husbandry, and Undergraduate Program in Aquatic Resource Management. This is different from the previous year’s first cohort, which only offered two programs, namely Agrotechnology and Aquatic Resource Management, conducted online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Representing the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Lisnawita, S.P., M.Si, expressed that the Faculty of Agriculture is very pleased to implement the PSDKU program, which has been prepared since the previous period under the leadership of the Rector and Dean. "According to the memorandum of understanding signed between PSDKU-USU and North Nias, USU will guide and mentor PSDKU for the next five years, with the expectation that after five years, this program can be run independently, no longer under USU, but as a self-standing institution," said the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU.

Yaaman Telaumbanua, S.E., M.M., a member of the North Nias Regency Legislative Council, also welcomed the socialization and hoped that this collaboration would not be wasted and would improve in the future. He also invited all stakeholders in North Nias Regency to promote and support the PSDKU program. "Let’s make this socialization a success, if possible, it should be attended by schools throughout North Nias Regency and even the entire Nias," he encouraged.
At the same event, Amizaro Waruwu, S.Pd., the Regent of North Nias, stated that it is a great honor for North Nias, as through the PSDKU program, the region can implement and facilitate an Undergraduate Degree program with the support of local natural resources relevant to the offered study programs.
From the socialization event, all parties hope that the cooperation between North Nias and USU will continue and be supported, so that in the future, PSDKU-USU in North Nias Regency can stand alone, as jointly expected, and in accordance with the shared vision of having a State University in North Nias Regency.
