Prof. Shyam S. Sablani from Washington State University Visits USU Rector's Bureau on May 20, 2025, after International General Lecture at Faculty of Agriculture USU. This visit was warmly welcomed by university leaders and discussed opportunities for international collaboration in student exchange, joint degrees, as well as research and publication partnerships. The event concluded with a memento presentation and the signing of a cooperation implementation agreement among the three organizing study programs.

Professor Dr. Shyam S. Sablani, a keynote speaker at the International General Lecture organized by the Master's Program in Food Science, Undergraduate Program in Food Technology, and Master's Program in Animal Science, visited the Rector's Office of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

 

The visit received a warm welcome from the university leadership, including USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt.; Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, S.T., M.T.; and supporting staff. Also present from the Faculty of Agriculture USU were the Head of the Master's Program in Food Science, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hotnida Sinaga, M.Phil., Ph.D.; the Secretary of the Master's Program in Food Science, Syahira Addina, S.Pi., M.Si.; and an expert staff member from the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture USU.

 

During the meeting, Professor Sablani presented various information about Washington State University (WSU), USA, and several potential areas for collaboration between WSU and USU, particularly with the Faculty of Agriculture USU.

 

In his welcoming remarks, Professor Himsar expressed hope for various forms of international activities in the future, such as student exchange programs, joint degree programs, as well as collaborative research and scientific publications between the two institutions.

 

The event concluded with the presentation of a memento from USU Vice Rector III to Professor Sablani. In addition, an implementation of cooperation agreement was signed among the three study programs—the Master's Program in Food Science, Undergraduate Program in Food Technology, and Master's Program in Animal Science—as part of the execution of the International General Lecture at the Faculty of Agriculture USU.
