USU Faculty of Agriculture collaborates with Nuffic Netherlands on Living Lab and MBKM activities, focusing on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security to empower students.

Following the initial exploration of collaboration between Nuffic and the Faculty of Agriculture USU regarding Living Lab and Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) activities held virtually on February 7, 2023, a follow-up meeting was conducted on May 12, 2023. This event took place at the DH Penny Room, Faculty of Agriculture USU, and was attended by the Faculty of Agriculture leadership, program heads and secretaries, the Faculty of Forestry USU, USU's Directorate of Internationalization, Nuffic (Netherlands), the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), Polbangtan Medan, and students from the Faculties of Agriculture and Forestry USU.

The meeting discussed various Living Lab collaborative activities between Nuffic and the Faculties of Agriculture and Forestry USU under the theme of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security as part of the MBKM program, including:

  1. International student exchange with universities in the Netherlands,
  2. Internships at multinational companies partnering with Nuffic,
  3. Collaborative research on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security,
  4. Humanitarian projects involving community service,
  5. Independent student projects, and
  6. Student fieldwork programs (Kuliah Kerja Nyata – KKN).

The next plan following this meeting is for students from the Faculties of Agriculture and Forestry USU to begin fieldwork next month to collect data under the Sustainable Food System theme.
