The 68th Anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was held on November 22–23, 2024. This series of events took place at the Faculty of Agriculture with the theme "Preparing Resilient Alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture USU to Compete in the Workforce and Entrepreneurship." This theme reflects the faculty's commitment to equipping students to face global challenges. The event also involved alumni from the class of 1994 as the main organizing committee.

On the first day, the celebration began with a scientific oration delivered by the Director of Operations at PalmCo, Rizal Damanik, who presented a lecture titled "The Role of PalmCo in the Transformation of the National Oil Palm Plantation." In his oration, Rizal congratulated the Faculty of Agriculture on its 68th Anniversary, emphasizing that this occasion serves as a moment to reflect on past achievements while planning for a brighter future.

"This year’s Anniversary serves as a special moment of togetherness. In addition to sharing experiences with alumni, activities such as blood donation, fun walks, and bazaars aim to strengthen relationships within the academic community while benefiting the surrounding community," said Erwanda.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.Si., reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to enhancing its international reputation. One of the efforts includes welcoming an international accreditation assessment scheduled for December 2–3. He expressed hope that the Agroecotechnology, Food Technology, and Animal Husbandry programs will achieve the best outcomes in this accreditation process. Prof. Tavi also appreciated the support from alumni in aiding students and emphasized the faculty's role in supporting SDGs, particularly poverty alleviation through the agricultural sector.

"We are committed to continually improving the quality of education and supporting international accreditation to ensure the Faculty of Agriculture USU can compete globally. Moreover, alumni play a crucial role in preparing students for the workforce and contributing to the national agricultural sector," said Prof. Tavi.

The event was also attended by USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., representing USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. In her remarks, she congratulated the Faculty of Agriculture on its 68th Anniversary and expressed hope that the faculty will continue to grow as a globally impactful institution. "Entrepreneurship in agriculture is not just about farming but also about managing innovation and technology-based businesses that positively impact society," said Prof. Poppy.

The second day of the celebration was enlivened by a Fun Walk attended by alumni and the academic community. The event culminated with the cutting of the ceremonial rice cone (tumpeng) by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, witnessed by alumni and faculty members.
