The Faculty of Agriculture USU held an online socialization on the One-Stop Application (ASA) to ease academic administration services for students and provided E-Learning training for faculty members.
The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted an online socialization session on the Introduction and Training of the One-Stop Application (ASA) USU on Saturday, August 28, 2021. The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., and the material on how to use the ASA application was presented by Fetaro Zendrato, S.Kom., and Maulida Sari, S.Kom., the ASA administrators of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU.
In his opening speech, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S. stated that ASA is an online application designed to simplify academic administration services for students. This system is especially relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic, as students no longer need to come to campus since ASA can be accessed from anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. Currently, ASA handles 25 types of letter services, and additional services are expected to be added in the future. “ASA is our effort to provide the best service for students. If implemented, we hope ASA will address students' complaints about managing administrative letters,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.
The material on the Introduction and Training of ASA was presented by Fetaro Zendrato, S.Kom., and Maulida Sari, S.Kom., while demonstrating the application in real-time. Fetaro Zendrato explained how to submit letters through the ASA application, which can be accessed via the website asa.usu.ac.id using the student ID number (NIM) to log in. “With ASA, we can monitor and check the status of letters we have submitted through the ASA menu,” he said. There are four letter statuses: letter not yet verified by the operator, letter in process after being verified by the operator, letter request rejected, and letter processed successfully. “Once the letter is processed, it can be downloaded from the application for printing. If it is rejected, there is usually a clear reason for the rejection,” he added.

According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology regarding the Reporting of Online Learning Performance, it is stated that higher education leaders can report on online learning activities by filling out a questionnaire in the Indonesian Online Learning System (SPADA) and integrating the institution's Learning Management System (LMS) with SPADA Indonesia. This increases the urgency of using LMS at each higher education institution. Currently, USU’s E-Learning is one of the LMS systems integrated with SPADA Indonesia. It is important to note that USU E-Learning supports various learning modes, including conceptual and experimental, synchronous and asynchronous, online and offline, soft skills and hard skills, as well as instruction and interaction.
Muhammad Khaliqi, S.P., M.Si., who is also a lecturer in the Agribusiness Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, USU, led the training by demonstrating how to use USU E-Learning, from enrolling students in courses, creating online lecture links, taking attendance, uploading files, creating assignments, quizzes, to importing materials for parallel classes. With this training, it is expected that more USU lecturers will become familiar with and use USU E-Learning as an online learning platform.
