The Undergraduate and Master's Program in Animal Science of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held an Alumni Gathering on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at Cambridge Hotel Medan, as an effort to strengthen relations with alumni and encourage collaboration in study program development and the enhancement of graduate competitiveness.

The Undergraduate and Master's Program in Animal Science of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held an Alumni Gathering on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at Cambridge Hotel Medan (Ruby Room, 25th Floor) from 17.00 WIB until completion.

 

The event was attended by the Head of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, Dr. Ir. Ma'ruf Tafsin, M.Si., IPM; the Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, Ir. Achmad Sadeli, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN.Eng; the Head of the Master's Program in Animal Science, Dr. Ir. Nevy Diana Hanafi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM; the Secretary of the Master's Program in Animal Science, Dr. Ade Trisna, S.Pt., MM; as well as alumni, lecturers, and education staff from the Undergraduate and Master's Program in Animal Science of FP USU.

 

In her remarks, the Head of the Master's Program in Animal Science, Dr. Ir. Nevy Diana Hanafi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM, expressed her appreciation to the alumni in attendance and emphasized the importance of alumni in developing the study program. “This evening I feel very happy because the majority of those present are alumni of the Master's Program in Animal Science. We are currently developing an internship program for undergraduate students over several semesters, so we greatly hope for the support of alumni to guide them throughout the process. We strongly expect that internship experiences in the professional world will strengthen their competencies, making them more prepared and absorbed into various professional sectors after graduation,” said Dr. Nevy. She also hoped that the good relationship between alumni and the study program would remain strong in the future.

 

Remarks from the Chair of the Animal Science Alumni Association, represented by Andika Putra, S.Pt., M.Pt., emphasized the importance of continuity for such activities. “This activity is very good and needs to be continuously strengthened to build synergy between alumni and the campus, as well as to strengthen the Animal Science alumni network of USU so it can contribute to the development of animal science in North Sumatra and Indonesia,” said Mr. Andika.



 

An alumna and also the Secretary of the Office of Plantations and Animal Husbandry of North Sumatra Province, Rustiati Sari Harahap, S.Pt., M.Pt., also conveyed her appreciation and encouragement. “I am grateful to have been invited to this activity. In the future, I hope the alumni gathering can reach more alumni so that the bonds of camaraderie grow stronger and remain unbroken. Through this activity, we can share experiences and knowledge that are beneficial for the advancement of Animal Science alumni of USU,” said Ms. Rustiati.

 

The Head of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, Dr. Ir. Ma'ruf Tafsin, M.Si., IPM, explained that this activity is an important part of strengthening alumni contributions to the development of the study program. He emphasized the need for partnerships with industry and the importance of alumni experience in guiding students to be better prepared for the workforce. In addition, the Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, Ir. Achmad Sadeli, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN.Eng, also delivered two important announcements regarding the QS Global Academic Survey and the Alumni Award 2025.

 

This Alumni Gathering served as a strategic momentum to strengthen relationships between the study program, alumni, and industry partners to support improving the quality of education and the competitiveness of graduates of the Animal Science Study Programs at FP USU.
