"Students are agents of change. That's why the government targets students in organizing this competition to spread the spirit of mental revolution to their surroundings," said Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. from the Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) during the prize presentation to the winning students of the 2021 Big Ideas Competition for the National Mental Revolution Movement, held by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK RI). The prizes were handed over by the Vice Rector III of USU, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. at Inter Coffee USU on Thursday, December 23, 2021.
Prof. Poppy mentioned that students are the right subjects for the National Mental Revolution Movement because they connect directly with society and serve as a conduit for aspirations. "Students are agents of change. That's why the government targets students in organizing this competition to spread the spirit of mental revolution to their surroundings," said Prof. Poppy. She also emphasized that students become agents of change due to their ideological thinking. Therefore, students' innovation and breakthroughs are highly needed to support the National Mental Revolution Movement.
As known, USU actively contributes to the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture to ensure the success of the National Mental Revolution Movement. USU plays a role in cleanliness by conducting various activities such as seminars and competitions under the theme "Gerakan Indonesia Bersih, Mahasiswa sebagai Agen Perubahan"(Clean Indonesia Movement: Students as Agents of Change).
I hope that in future activities, there will be even more ideas and innovations from students participating in this program. We often talk about how some foreign countries are very clean, but we forget to implement that in our own country. Therefore, the students become the agents of change," concluded Prof. Poppy.
