The Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) once again conducted an Open Dissertation Defense, which was held in a hybrid format on Monday, 29 December 2025, at the IMT-GT Room, USU Rectorate Building.
The Open Defense was undertaken by Lentina Sitinjak (Student ID: 198104005) with a dissertation entitled “Agroecology and the Effect of Asystasia gangetica (L) Infestation on the Growth and Yield of Oil Palm Plants.” The dissertation examines agroecological aspects and the influence of the ground cover plant Asystasia gangetica on the growth performance and productivity of oil palm, which is highly relevant to sustainable plantation management.
The examination session was chaired by Prof. Edy Ikhsan, SH, Vice Rector I of USU. The promoter was Prof. Edison Purba, PhD, with co-promoters Dr. Ir. Chairani Hanum, MP, and Prof. Luthfi A.
