The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), conducted a visit to PTPN IV on Monday, June 8, 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen institutional relations and explore opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and human resource development.
The USU Faculty of Agriculture delegation was led by the Dean, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., accompanied by Vice Dean I Dr. Nini Rahmawati, S.P., M.Si., Academic Affairs Advisor Hafnes Wahyuni, S.P., M.P., and the Secretary of the Master’s Program in Agrotechnology, Prof. Dr. Mariani Br. Sembiring, S.P., M.P.
Representing PTPN IV were Ali Rabani, S.P., M.P. (Head of Investment and GIS Subdivision), Mulianto, S.P., M.M. (Operation Head 1), Totop Poltak Hatorangan, S.T., M.A.B. (Operation Head 2), Edy Marlon Doloksaribu, S.P. (Head of Strategic Operations Division), Rudi Simatupang, S.T., M.M. (Head of Engineering and Processing Division), Hwin Dwi Putra, S.P., M.M. (Head of Human Resources and Management Systems Division), Mirvan Ariza, S.H., M.Hum., SAK3U (Lead Management Representative), Candra Sinaga, S.P. (Head of KSO Plantation Subdivision), and M. Fikri Ridho, S.P. (Acting Head of Production Subdivision R2).
During the meeting, both parties discussed various collaboration opportunities that could be developed between higher education institutions and the plantation industry. Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships in education, applied research, human resource capacity building, and the development of programs that would provide mutual benefits for both institutions.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, emphasized that collaboration between universities and industry plays a crucial role in advancing scientific knowledge and improving the quality of human resources to meet the evolving needs of the agricultural and plantation sectors.
On the same occasion, the Faculty of Agriculture introduced its academic programs and research initiatives that have been developed to enhance competencies and strengthen partnerships with strategic stakeholders.
PTPN IV welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for the Faculty’s initiative in building sustainable communication and collaboration. Both parties expressed hope that the discussions would serve as a foundation for strengthening institutional relations and implementing collaborative programs that contribute to the advancement of higher education and the plantation industry.
Through this meeting, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and PTPN IV reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining constructive communication and cooperation in support of human resource development and the sustainable growth of Indonesia’s agricultural and plantation sectors.
