The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), held the 2025 Pengenalan Kehidupan Kampus Mahasiswa Baru (PKKMB) on August 13–15, 2025, carrying the theme “Unlock Your Potential, Create Real Change.” This program served as an important moment for new students to get to know the campus environment while strengthening their character as excellent and globally competitive young leaders.

The event began with an opening ceremony at the USU Mini Stadium, led by USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., who delivered a welcome address to all freshmen. Activities then continued at the Faculty of Agriculture, including a faculty profile video screening, a speech by the Dean, faculty leadership introductions, and tree planting as a symbol of environmental awareness.

Over the three days, students received lectures from various inspiring speakers. On the first day, Suri Mutia Siregar, S.Psi., M.Psi. discussed strengthening BINTANG character and global competitiveness, followed by USU Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., USU Director of Student Achievement and Alumni Relations, Rahma Yurliani, S.Psi., M.Psi., and Hayatunnufus, S.Kom., M.Cs., who spoke on higher education transformation in the digital era and Society 5.0.

The second day featured materials from Dina Nazriani, S.Psi., M.A. on students as agents of change and sustainable green campuses; M. The third day included a session on the Student Creativity Program (PKM) by Kristiawan Hadinata, S.E., M.Si., and the P2MW Program by Ir. Galih Ari Wirawan Siregar, S.Pt., M.Si. Freshmen also heard success stories from FP USU alumni Ilyas Hasibuan, S.Pt., Iman Jaya Saragih, S.Pt., and Aryalan Ginting. Student organizations (HMJ, BEM, DPMF, and UKM) introduced themselves, and the program closed with a symbolic presentation of the almamater jacket by the Dean together with BEM representatives.

In her remarks, FP USU Dean, Prof. Tavi, highlighted the importance of productivity and global opportunities:
“Imagine, in countries like Australia, Japan, and Germany, human resources are declining. Sharpen your skills, including English proficiency, so you can compete internationally,” she said.

Meanwhile, USU Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., reminded freshmen to be grateful for the selective opportunity to be part of USU.
“Only 11 percent of 79,000 applicants were admitted to USU. Be grateful for this privilege, aim to graduate on time, get involved in organizations, and of course, achieve excellence,” said Prof. Edy.

PKKMB FP USU 2025 is expected not only to serve as an introduction to campus life but also as the starting point for nurturing USU agriculture students as excellent, competitive, and globally ready future leaders.
