Medan, 16 July 2026 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU) held an appreciation and leadership handover ceremony for the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs from the 2021–2026 term to the 2026–2031 term on Thursday (16 July) at the Meeting Room on the second floor of the Faculty's Main Building. The event was attended by the faculty leadership, Heads and Secretaries of Undergraduate (Bachelor's), Master's, and Doctoral Study Programs from both the outgoing and incoming terms, as well as the Head of the Faculty Administration Subdivision.

The ceremony began with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., who expressed his appreciation to all Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs for the 2021–2026 term for their dedication and valuable contributions to improving the quality of education within the faculty.

In his address, the Dean emphasized that many of the Faculty's achievements over the past five years were made possible through the strategic leadership and commitment of the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs in maintaining academic quality and effective program governance.

"The role of our Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs is crucial in maintaining quality. We cannot afford to remain stagnant. Without continuous improvement and innovation, we will remain in the same position. Fortunately, compared to five years ago, the Faculty of Agriculture has made remarkable progress," he said.

He also expressed his hope that the incoming leadership for the 2026–2031 term would continue building on these achievements and lead the Faculty to even greater accomplishments.

"Together, we must continue developing the Faculty of Agriculture. Our aspiration is for the Faculty to be ranked among the world's top 300 universities within the next ten years. That goal would not be possible without the strong foundation and outstanding work established by the previous Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs. For that, I extend my deepest gratitude to all of them," he added.

On the same occasion, Prof. Ir. Diana Chalil, M.Si., Ph.D., representing the outgoing Head of the Master's Program in Agribusiness (2021–2026), shared her reflections on serving in the role and encouraged the academic community to continue fostering a spirit of collaboration in advancing the Faculty.

Representing the incoming leadership, Dr. Ahmad Muhtadi, S.Pi., M.Si., Head of the Undergraduate Program in Aquatic Resources Management for the 2026–2031 term, reaffirmed his commitment to building upon the accomplishments of the previous leadership through stronger collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement in academic quality.

As a token of appreciation for their years of service, the Dean presented commemorative awards to all Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs who served during the 2021–2026 term. The presentation symbolized the Faculty's gratitude for their dedication and contributions to strengthening study program governance, enhancing educational quality, and supporting the Faculty's achievements over the past five years.

This leadership transition reflects the Faculty of Agriculture's ongoing commitment to strengthening adaptive, innovative, and quality-oriented academic governance. Through close collaboration between the outgoing and incoming program leaders, the Faculty remains optimistic about achieving its vision of becoming an internationally recognized institution with global competitiveness.

The initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through continuous improvement in higher education quality and academic governance, and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting strong institutional governance, sustainable leadership, accountability, and a culture of continuous organizational improvement.
