The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in SEMIRATA 2025 of the Western Region BKS-PTN and The 2nd International Conference on Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science (ICAFES) at Universitas Riau, to strengthen inter-university collaboration and enhance the quality of agricultural education.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in the 2025 Annual Meeting Seminar (SEMIRATA) of the Western Region State University Cooperation Agency (BKS-PTN) in the field of Agricultural Sciences, held in conjunction with The 2nd International Conference on Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Science (ICAFES), on August 30–31, 2025, at Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru.

Carrying the theme “Promoting Sustainable Agriculture to Ensure Food Security in the Face of Climate Change”, the event was conducted in a hybrid format at the Integrated Classroom Building of UNRI and featured various speakers from both domestic and international institutions.

USU’s participation not only strengthened the synergy among state universities under the Western Region BKS-PTN but also provided opportunities to attend a technical workshop on the LAM-PTIP Accreditation instrument, which was beneficial for understanding policy directions and quality assurance in higher agricultural education.

In addition to the scientific forum, participants also joined a gala dinner and a field trip to PTPN IV Regional 3 and the Siak Palace, which were part of the SEMIRATA–ICAFES 2025 agenda.

The involvement of USU’s Faculty of Agriculture in this forum aligns with the achievement of Priority Performance Indicator (IKP) 6, which emphasizes improving the quality of education through strengthening study program accreditation, international recognition, as well as the integration of research results and community service into the curriculum.

Through this event, it is expected that inter-university cooperation will become stronger, while also opening opportunities for research collaboration and the development of sustainable agricultural innovations that benefit society and the industrial sector.
