The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), has strengthened coordination for the implementation of its Internship Program with Regal Springs Indonesia (RSI) through a meeting held on June 4, 2026. Scheduled to commence on July 1, 2026, the internship program aims to provide students and graduates with practical work experience and competency development opportunities in the aquaculture sector. This collaboration is expected to further enhance the synergy between academia and industry in producing highly skilled and job-ready professionals.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), continues to strengthen its partnership with industry through a follow-up coordination meeting regarding the implementation of the Internship Program in collaboration with Regal Springs Indonesia (RSI). The meeting was held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, in the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Agriculture as a continuation of previous discussions.

The internship program, established through the partnership between the Faculty of Agriculture and RSI, is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026. Internship activities will take place at two RSI operational sites: the Hatchery Unit in Lubuk Naga, Serdang Bedagai Regency, and the Aqua Farming Unit in Toba Regency.

Representing Regal Springs Indonesia at the meeting were Respati Bayu Aji, Human Resources & GA Director; Zainul Anshoriy, Consultant; and Nilawati, HR Assistant Manager. From the Faculty of Agriculture, attendees included the Dean, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., along with members of the deanery, the Head and lecturers of the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program, and the Dean’s advisors.

During the meeting, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo emphasized that the implementation of this partnership represents a strategic step in strengthening the link between higher education and industry needs.

"The Faculty of Agriculture will collaborate in the initial selection process to identify and recommend the most promising candidates, who will then undergo further selection based on the qualifications required by Regal Springs Indonesia," said Dr. Rulianda.

He further stated that the program is expected to produce graduates with strong competencies who are well prepared to meet the challenges of an increasingly competitive job market.

In his presentation, Respati Bayu Aji explained various aspects of the internship program, including participant qualifications, program duration, and the benefits that participants will gain throughout the internship.

"This internship program will run for six months and is designed to provide practical work experience, enhance technical competencies, and support professional development within the modern aquaculture industry," explained Bayu.

Through this program, students and graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU are expected to gain practical experience aligned with industry needs, broaden their professional perspectives, and improve their competitiveness in the workforce. Furthermore, the partnership between the Faculty of Agriculture and Regal Springs Indonesia is expected to continue expanding into other areas that support the advancement of Indonesia’s aquaculture sector.

This coordination meeting marks an important step in ensuring the successful implementation of the internship program while reinforcing the commitment of both parties to creating opportunities for competency development among young professionals who will contribute to the national fisheries and aquaculture industry.
