Lecturers have the main duty to carry out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes Research, Community Service, and Education. Every year, the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service (formerly the Directorate of Research and Community Service) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology holds a call for research and community service proposals for the academic community. This year, the acting Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM) announced through letter number: 0011/E5/2022 that the Research and Community Service Proposal Acceptance for 2022 funding has been opened from January 25 to February 10, 2022.
Given the approaching deadline for proposal submission, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized a two-day workshop on writing research and community service proposals on February 2–3, 2022. The workshop featured several experts, including Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., Dr. Lisnawaita, S.P., M.Si., and Meutia Nauly, S.Psi., M.Si., Psychologist, with Julia Syahriani, S.Pi., M.Si., and Raju, S.TP., M.Si., acting as moderators on the first and second days.
On the first day, focused on research, the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., stated that the workshop aims to inspire researchers to prepare research proposals and anticipate formatting errors so that the proposals can pass administrative checks. In line with this, on the second day, which focused on community service, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., hoped the event would increase the number of community service proposals submitted by FP USU lecturers through the DRTPM 2022 funding scheme, as no proposals were approved last year.
During the workshop, the speakers presented materials on how to prepare a proper and well-structured proposal. On the first day, Dr. Lisnawaita, S.P., M.Si., discussed the Regulations Regarding the Basic Research Scheme, and Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., presented the Regulations Regarding the Applied and Development Research Scheme. On the second day, Meutia Nauly, S.Psi., M.Si., Psychologist (Secretary of LPPM USU), delivered material on DIKTI and USU Policies on Community Service, while Prof. Mohammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D., provided insights on How to Write Community Service Proposals Effectively.
The two-day workshop concluded with a closing speech by Vice Dean III of FP USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. “I hope that all of us present here can submit the best proposals, and we from WD III are ready to assist. In addition to LPPM, we at the Faculty have also prepared support staff to assist you in writing and compiling proposals,” she concluded.
