Prof. Dr. Ir. Sayed Umar, M.S. is one of the USU Faculty of Agriculture lecturers who has completed his duties and obligations formally to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, which we all love. However, his alma mater has not been reluctant to let him go; his enthusiasm has not subsided to continue with students to open the veil of knowledge as a provision for the next generation to accept the relay of national leadership in the coming days full of opportunities and challenges.

He is a senior lecturer who has served since 1973 and is still teaching well, and many of his students have held important positions in government, state institutions, BUMN, and successful private companies. Besides actively teaching, he is also active in professional organizations, such as the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), the Indonesian Animal Husbandry Association (ISPI), and the Indonesian Sheep Goat and Buffalo Breeders Association (HPDKI). He is also active in the environmental field, such as the USU Campus Publishing and Greening Program and the Leuser Management Unit (UML), the Leuser International Foundation that cares for the environment. Also, he is an active member of the USU Employee and Student Football Association and the USU Elderly group.
