Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has once again successfully held its annual international conference for the 8th year of implementation. This event was held on Thursday, July 25, 2024. It was held hybrid at the USU Digital Learning Center Building (DLCB) and online via Zoom meeting. The 8th AEFS international conference theme was "Eco-Friendly Agricultural to Increase Food System Resilience." This year's implementation of the 8th AEFS was also considered special because it was held with the PAGI (Indonesian Agrotechnology/Agroecotechnology Association) event.
The implementation of the 8th AEFS was officially opened by the representative of the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dr. Edy Ikhsan, S.H., M.A., as Vice Rector I. Also giving remarks were Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS, as Dean of the USU Faculty of Agriculture, and Dr. Ir. Sandra Engelin Pakasi, M.Sc., as the head of PAGI.
This event consists of a Plenary Session and a Parallel Session. The plenary session was filled with material presentations by several international speakers, including Dr. Samuel Martins (University of Florida, USA), Ir. Diana Chalil, M.Sc., PhD. (Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia), and Andrea Pezzuolo, Ph.D (University of Padova, Italy).
In the parallel session, all presenters who submitted articles to the 8th AEFS international conference presented their work. There are 180 articles registered on the AEFS website system.
Hopefully, the implementation of AEFS will continue in the following years. It can be a forum for agricultural researchers, enabling innovation in the form of recommendations and technology in agriculture, environment, and food security.
