A total of 16 students of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), participated in the Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) through a learning activity in partnership with the Tanjung Selamat Main Food Crop Seed Unit.
Located at Jl. Pendidikan No. 60, Tanjung Selamat, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, this activity provided students with an opportunity to gain direct learning experience in the field. Through this activity, students had the opportunity to develop technical skills while gaining a more contextual understanding of food crop management and seed production practices.
Learning through PLPS provided students with space to connect the knowledge acquired during lectures with conditions and practices in the field. Direct interaction with a learning environment outside the study program also enriched students' understanding of crop management and seed production processes while encouraging the development of practical skills that support competencies in the agricultural sector.
In addition to strengthening knowledge and technical skills, this activity also supported the development of students' professional readiness. Direct learning experiences encouraged students to improve their adaptability, responsibility, and understanding of the needs and challenges present in the agricultural sector. Thus, PLPS became part of a learning process that supports the development of competent and adaptable graduates of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology who are prepared to respond to developments in the world of work.
