The Undergraduate Program in Agribusiness, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), conducted a National Accreditation On-Site Assessment by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) on Friday, 13 February 2026, at the Main Building Meeting Room of the Faculty of Agriculture USU. The assessment involved two assessors, namely Mahdi, SP., M.Si., Ph.D as Assessor I and Prof. Dr. Ir. Tuti Karyani, MSP as Assessor II, who were tasked with carrying out clarification, verification, and validation of data and information submitted by the study program through the Self-Evaluation Report (SER) and the Study Program Performance Report (SPPR).

The activity began with an official opening, the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, a prayer, and remarks from the university and faculty leadership, followed by the introduction of the assessor panel and the signing of the on-site assessment statement. In his remarks, the Vice Rector V of USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Luhut Sihombing, M.P., expressed optimism regarding the readiness of the Agribusiness Study Program. “From the infrastructure perspective, I am confident that it is already sufficient. With various improvements that have been made since the B accreditation in 2009, we hope that the status can be upgraded to superior,” he stated. He emphasized that accreditation is not merely an assessment of scores, but also an opportunity to receive input for improving the study program. “We hope to receive constructive feedback so that what is already good can become even better and the balance between input and output can be well maintained,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mahdi, SP., M.Si., Ph.D explained that the primary task of the assessor team was to clarify and correct the data that had been uploaded. “Our assignment is to ensure that the data and information submitted are accurate and complete. If there are documents that are lacking, they will be completed; if improvements are needed, they will be made. All of this is intended to provide the most accurate picture possible to the BAN-PT Executive Board as the basis for determining the accreditation status,” he explained. He also expressed hope that the entire series of activities would run smoothly. “We ask for permission in advance as we will be asking many questions. May what we do today be considered an act of worship and bring progress to the Agribusiness Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture USU,” he conveyed.

The assessment series included sessions with the leadership of the Study Program Management Unit (UPPS) to confirm development plans, governance systems, management systems, and the achievements that had been reported. The assessor team also conducted an in-depth review of the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS), which includes the PPEPP cycle, as well as the examination of standards documents, manuals, instruments, and periodic reports. In addition, confirmation of SPPR and SER data was carried out as the basis for quantitative and qualitative assessment.

The assessment also involved lecturers and educational staff to confirm performance, involvement, services, and satisfaction levels. Sessions with middle-level management were conducted to examine the management of the tridharma of higher education, human resources, finance, facilities and infrastructure, as well as information systems. Students were also given the opportunity to convey their experiences related to academic services and the learning process. In addition, alumni and graduate users from various sectors—including banking, business, local government, as well as the plantation and agribusiness industries—also provided input regarding graduate quality and the relevance of the curriculum to the needs of the world of work.

The series of activities was concluded with independent work by the assessor team to prepare a draft of the official assessment report and recommendations, which were then presented to the faculty and study program leadership for joint signing. Through this on-site assessment, the Undergraduate Program in Agribusiness, Faculty of Agriculture USU, reaffirmed its commitment to improving educational quality, strengthening governance, and ensuring sustainable quality enhancement on an ongoing basis. The final accreditation result will subsequently be determined by the BAN-PT Executive Board based on the overall data, clarification, and recommendations submitted by the assessor team.
