In an effort to improve the competence of regional legislative drafters, the North Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights conducted an in-depth session themed “Establishing Local Legal Instruments to Support Food Security” on May 20, 2025, at the Legislative and Legal Development Division Meeting Room.
Head of the Regional Office, Ignatius Silalahi, opened the session by emphasizing that the formation of local legal products depends greatly on the role of legislative drafters—starting from the planning stage through the Regional Regulation Formation Program (Propemperda), followed by the preparation of Academic Papers and Draft Regulations that must go through a harmonization process.
Ignatius expressed hope that this initiative would enrich the insights of legal drafters in North Sumatra, supporting the development of high-quality local legal products aligned with public interests.
The event featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Dr. Andryan, SH, MH, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, as keynote speakers. Also present were Ferry Ferdiansyah, Head of the Legislative and Legal Development Division, along with legislative drafters from the North Sumatra Regional Office and local governments across the province.
